Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association

The Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association (CMPDA) represents a number of major U.S. movie studios that distribute feature films, television, pay TV and videos in Canada. The association has also been involved in developing the Canadian Rating System for Home Videos and deals with comments or complaints regarding ratings assigned to rental videos.

Other CMPDA activities include:

  • facilitating positive working relationships among all sectors of the motion picture, television and video industries
  • identifying opportunities for expansion of the Canadian film/video industry
  • maintaining an active working relationship with federal and provincial governments
  • protecting copyright ownership
  • directing an anti-piracy program
