Think TV: Resources for Everyday Thinking
By Patricia Kipping, for the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Culture, 1995.
To succeed in an information-based society, people must be able to think critically about the information they receive. For most adults, television is the most influential and most used source - one that affects attitudes to politics, work, school, family and social relationships.
Think TV offers an innovative approach to adult education by providing information, ideas and strategies for learning critical thinking skills. The Think TV project includes:
- Think TV: A workshop series designed to encourage parents to explore how television influences learning.
- Resources for Everyday Thinking: A collection of books, articles, videos and other learning materials on critical thinking and media literacy. (The collection is located in Nova Scotia Regional Literacy Resources Centres.)
- Everyday Thinking Annotated Resource Guide: These listings of resources include suggestions for using them in a variety of adult learning situations, such as tutoring and upgrading programs, community college programs and parent groups.
