Exploring Media & Race Workshop Review

  • I really like the tips for facilitators and the list of resources is great – very comprehensive.

  • The presentation is excellent – concise and easy to use. The images are well chosen and balanced. I like the use of Canadian content and current images that students will be able to relate to.

  • The lesson plans are a great follow up if teachers / facilitators want to use them. I like the way each stands alone in case teachers don’t have time to do them all. Students will like the action research activities where they get to audit media for diversity.

  • I know this is meant for secondary school students or maybe even middle school students, but we also need a simplified version for kids aged grade 3-6. Eventually I know you will get to it.

Suzanne Muir is the Diversity Coordinator of the Halton District School Board in Ontario.
